If you are at the GR21 conference this week, you might have seen me present the image below.

This represents the audience funnel. When you publish a paper, your audience go through various stages. The first of these is awareness. It’s important to realise that:
- only a subset of your audience will become aware of your work.
- only subset of those people read the paper,
- and only a subset of your readers give you the outcomes you want like:
- Citing the work, or
- Remembering the key messages you wanted to communicate
—
It’s an unfortunate fact of life that the number of people who give you the outcomes you want from publishing a paper is typically going to be much less than the total audience who could give you those outcomes.
CQG offers a number of promotional services which help to get the best out of the audience funnel.
-
We create awareness with focus issues, social media and CQG+: the only journal blog dedicated to the broad audience of gravitational physicists.
-
We remind readers about great papers with the CQG highlights.
-
And CQG+ can even help you to communicate some of the key messages of your work to a broad audience - an important outcome.
CQG is unique in its ability to raise your visibility with the audience that matter. All of this is free to our authors.
Publish your next great paper in CQG to benefit from these services.
